Best Value Korean Skincare: The Real Cost-per-mL Leaders, Category by Category

Sticker price and true value aren't the same thing. Here's the actual lowest cost-per-mL pick in each category, verified against real, currently tracked retailer pricing, not just the cheapest-looking bottle.

Research-basedBy Nur → Last verified 9/23/2026

We calculate cost per milliliter for every product we track, since a small expensive bottle and a large cheap one aren't actually comparable on sticker price alone. Looking at genuine cost-per-mL leaders across all four categories we cover surfaces some real surprises, starting with the fact that the single cheapest product per mL on the entire site isn't a cleanser at all.

Our overall pick, across every category: Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Lotion

$0.06 per milliliter ($20.00 for 350mL), the lowest verified cost-per-mL of any product we track, in any category. Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Lotion is a large-format everyday barrier lotion built on ceramide NP and cholesterol, the same real barrier-lipid base as Illiyoon's Concentrate Cream, just in a lighter, higher-volume format. Most people shopping by category would never think to compare a moisturizer's per-mL cost against a cleanser's, but on pure value, this is the actual winner.

Cleansers: COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser

$0.09 per milliliter ($14.00 for 150mL), the lowest verified cost-per-mL of any cleanser we track. COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser is built around betaine salicylate (a gentler BHA) alongside tea tree oil and allantoin, it's also one of the most reviewed low-pH cleansers in K-beauty, so the value here isn't coming at the cost of formula depth.

Serums: AESTURA Atobarrier365 Hydro Essence

$0.16 per milliliter ($32.00 for 200mL), the lowest verified cost-per-mL of any serum or essence we track, and by far the largest format in this category, most dropper serums run well under 50mL. Worth a direct correction here: AESTURA Atobarrier365 Hydro Essence's own marketing repeatedly references ceramides, but the current, verified ingredient list contains no literal ceramide entry, just squalane and cholesterol as the real barrier-supporting lipids. Still a genuine barrier-lipid formula, just not the specific ingredient the marketing implies.

Sunscreens: SCINIC Enjoy Super Mild Sun Essence

$0.28 per milliliter ($14.00 for 50mL), the lowest verified cost-per-mL of any sunscreen we track, and confirmed available across all three retailers we monitor, not just a single region. SCINIC Enjoy Super Mild Sun Essence's formula is genuinely simpler than pricier competitors, real niacinamide, centella asiatica, and adenosine, but a shorter supporting-ingredient list. That's a reflection of catalog positioning at this price point, not a quality red flag on its own.

Why cost-per-mL, not sticker price

A $32 serum and a $14 cleanser aren't comparable on price alone, they're different volumes, different categories, different jobs in a routine. Cost-per-mL is the only number that actually normalizes for that, and it's why a 350mL lotion at $20 can be a better raw value than a 50mL sunscreen at $14, even though the sunscreen costs less upfront.

Download the underlying data

Every number on this page comes from our own tracked pricing data. If you want the full dataset behind it, not just these four picks, download the verified pricing CSV. It covers every product across all four categories that has a confirmed retailer source and a real verification date, updated hourly from the same data driving this site.

The CSV intentionally excludes products still awaiting retailer verification, rather than showing an estimated or placeholder price for them. A blank cell would be misleading in a dataset meant to demonstrate real, sourced observations, so those products are left out entirely until they're properly checked.

What's in each column

brand and product_name identify the item. category is one of sunscreens, serums, moisturizers, or cleansers. price_usd is the last observed price in US dollars, currency is always USD. size and size_unit give the labeled volume, usually mL, occasionally g for some cleansing balms. cost_per_unit is price_usd divided by size, the same figure used throughout this site. retailers_checked lists which of Amazon, YesStyle, and Stylevana we confirmed the price against, separated by semicolons. date_checked is the date that price was last verified, in YYYY-MM-DD format. product_url links back to the full product page with ingredients and sourcing detail.

Our take

If pure cost-per-mL is what you're optimizing for, Illiyoon's lotion is the single best number on the site. But value only matters relative to what you actually need, a barrier-repair lotion doesn't replace a sunscreen, and a gel cleanser doesn't replace a hydrating essence. Use this as a per-category value baseline, not a reason to buy outside what your routine actually calls for.
